御供番（ごくうばん）

御供番（こくうばん）の御供（ごくう）とは神様に差し上げるお食事のことです。御嶽山には神主の家が34件もあります。御岳神社の神様には毎日当番制で神様にお食事を運びます。

"Goku" means the meal of Gods . "Ban" means being on duty. There is 34 houses and Ryokan that shinto priest live in at Mt.Mitake. Every day We carry boxes (see below) to the Shrine as their turn. March 5 is my turn. I took box to the shrine.

空の御供番。手前の小さい箱にお米を入れる。白い瓶にお酒を入れる。帳面は終えたら署名して次の当番に回す。

Gokuban Box. Small is for rice.A white small bottle is for Sake.Japanese Gods like Sake. Note is for signiture. After turn one write one`s signiture and take it to next shinto priest.

私の運んだ御供番。お米とお酒の他には魚、野菜、果物が入っています。

Our case. Sake , rice,fruites,vegetables. Sake and rice are indispensable foods.
